Routing, Scheduling and
Optimization
Situation
Cardinal, a
leading Dedicated and Delivery Fleet provider wanted a tool that could
serve a dual purpose: both as a robust, strategic planning tool for
their design and engineering staff, and as a day-to-day tactical tool
for their
customers.
Solution
Cardinal installed multiple copies of myRoutes locally at their HQ for
the use of their Design and Engineering teams. In addition, the tool
was installed on-site at a few key customers, integrated with their ERP
systems and utilized for their tactical day-to-day routing and
scheduling needs.
Benefits
- Cardinal Engineers:
- Provide optimized and operationally
feasible solutions for the pre-sales environment, providing efficient
and competitive request for proposals (RFPs).
- Benchmark
existing operations and run
multiple "what-if" analysis, contributing to Cardinal's continuous
improvement initiatives.
- Support field operations on their
day-to-day routing and scheduling needs.
- Pre-planned solutions are easily
transferred to the field because the same
tool is used for execution. Parameters and attributes are
consistent with the originally designed solution and the same engineers
who are familiar with the project are available for implementation.
- The tool optimizes for multi-stop
truckload and LTL consolidation while balancing the resource
utilization needs of a dedicated fleet operation...cost savings of 15%
or more are common.
